Due to the complexity of the project, the team has decided that the capstone project will be split into phases. Figure 1 best illustrates a draft of the LMU Brain Mapping Initiative Roadmap for the capstone project.

Figure 1: LMU Brain Mapping Initiative Roadmap

For Fall 2020/Spring 2021, the capstone project will be to:

  • Design a wireless EEG helmet

  • Apply machine learning to the different brainwave data

  • The machine learning program will be able to identify the moment the wearer's state of mind changes

For Fall 2021/Spring 2022, the capstone project will be to:

  • Distinguish the different emotions of the wearer, i.e., happiness, sadness, anger, etc.

For Fall 2022/Spring 2023, the capstone project will be to:

  • Research the infra-low spectrum and how it could potentially be applied by the following years to allow the wearer to draw solely based on the wearer's thoughts.

THIS WEEK

Tyler

  • Discussed with Dr. Asghari about the future of LMU's brain mapping initiative. In order for the results to be effective, it would require for the entire team to test the helmet to verify it does not solely work with the original wearer

  • Discussed with both Dr. Hossein Asghari and Leah Ghebranious about how the team would meet if classes were to return for Spring 2021 semester

  • Updated the website, proposal, and presentation

  • Updated the Quality Functional Deployment

  • Continued the research on the hardware equipment required for the wireless EEG

Mark

  • Discussed with Dr. Asghari about the future of LMU's brain mapping initiative. In order for the results to be effective, it would require for the entire team to test the helmet to verify it does not solely work with the original wearer

  • Discussed with both Dr. Hossein Asghari and Leah Ghebranious about how the team would meet if classes were to return for Spring 2021 semester

  • Updated the website, proposal, and presentation

  • Further researched machine learning

NEXT WEEK

Tyler

  • Present the capstone project to the faculty

  • Make any necessary edits to the presentation and proposal

  • Further research on the hardware of the wireless EEG

Mark

  • Present the capstone project to the faculty

  • Make any necessary edits to the presentation and proposal

  • Further research machine learning
